Employees in this job perform and oversee a variety of janitorial, custodial tasks to maintain clean safe buildings and grounds using limited judgment. Actions are normally determined by specific instructions from the supervisor or by following well-defined procedures, methods, and practices. Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoos carpets, empty trash receptacles, and replace lining of trash cans.
Essential Responsibilities -
Sweep and mop floors.
Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.
Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.
Apply wax to coat floors and buff.
Apply sealant to floors.
Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants.
Identify and report possible repairs.
Shovel snow from sidewalks and sprinkle salt on surface if needed.
Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris.
Requisitions supplies, equipment, tools, and materials as needed to perform the duties of this job.
Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
Knowledge of MSDS.
Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and PPE.
Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.
Knowledge of building and property security procedures.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, and squat, and may have to do so for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of material

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, motorized vehicles and heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require hearing protection that is provided.
