Job Store Staffing has partnered with a small HVAC company to recruit for a Controller. Join our clients growing team as a Controller and play a key leadership role in supporting strategic goals through expert financial oversight and process improvement. The Controller position requires a hands-on, analytical professional who can ensure financial accuracy, support operational decisions, and help drive company success—all while enjoying a fun, supportive workplace environment.
Pay: $43-52/hr or $90-110K/year
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day remote
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including month-end statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and G/L analysis.
- Develop and manage cash-flow reporting to project weekly and monthly cash needs.
- Create and monitor annual budgets, tracking variances and reporting significant changes to leadership.
- Deliver cost management reports and financial analyses for capital investments, pricing, and salary planning.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead vendor negotiations and manage trade rebate programs to maximize returns.
- Evaluate, improve, and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Spearhead finance and accounting initiatives, including new software/system implementations.
- Partner with external consultants and coaches on business improvement projects.
- Conduct bank-related tasks, such as deposits and cashier check processing.
- Perform other duties as needed to support organizational success.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller responsibilities, preferably in a consumer-facing trade environment (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online; experience with ServiceTitan is a plus.
- Expert-level Excel skills (pivot tables, V-lookups).
- MBA or CPA preferred but not required.
