Job Store Staffing has partnered with a growing manufacturing company to recruit for a Controller in Sheridan Colorado. The Controller will manage $30 million in revenue.
The Controller will be a full-time office-based position. No remote or hybrid work. The Controller will also be a temporary-to-hire opportunity.

Our client is looking for an experienced Controller to help create and stabilize their financial and business reporting processes and systems. Ideal candidates for the Controller will be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from budgeting / planning to preparing financial statements. In addition to analyzing and reporting of financial information, the Controller will help identify and quantify opportunities to improve the performance of the company.
We are seeking a hands-on, roll up your sleeves Controller to build its financial systems and execute our growth-oriented strategy. The Controller must be a “doer”; there is no job too big or too small for the team. The Controller will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Corporate Group with creating and implementing critical work processes, systems, and controls to ensure their growth strategy is successfully executed and that its financial objectives and key performance metrics are achieved. The Controller must have a track record of success in industrial manufacturing organizations and competency in working in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Controller
- Create and stabilize financial report systems
- Establish Charter of Account consistent with corporate platform
- Oversee the General Ledger
- Collecting and analyzing data from operations - Actuals vs. Standards
- Refine our ability to capture material and labor cost.
- Identify and help implement cost improvement initiatives.
- Developing and setting standard costs for Bill of Materials.
- Determine and calculate fixed and variable costs.
- Compare actuals to standard overhead and labor.
- Analyze material and labor variances and determine root cause.
- Analysis of selling prices and margins to identify improvement opportunities.
- Establish periodic reporting of various KPIs.
- Execute month-end close process.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Monitor financial results as well as all expenditures vs. Budget.
- Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Manage payroll, account payable, and account receivable functions.
- Create and maintain strong internal controls.
- Manage year-end audit and supporting schedules.
- Manage physical and cycle inventory counts.
- Manage the implementation of the new ERP and reporting systems:
- Implementation of Macola-10
- Oversee the implementation of the CRM and BI tools
Required Qualifications - The Controller will require a strong and proven background in financial management and have experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Strong cost accounting background, a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 5 years + of related experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with customers, suppliers, and Private Equity shareholders
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative, customer-centric, and team-based work environment. The business requires in-office presence.
- Limited overnight travel – 1 or 2 nights a month
