We are looking for a cook lead for our client in Colorado Springs. The position is a Temp to Hire position starting the beginning of January.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cook designated meals following school menus and standardized recipes, set-up the serving line and serve meals on time.
Review the daily nutrient analysis, ensuring staff have the correct serving utensils.
Complete the daily HAACP/safety paperwork as required.
Maintain an accurate inventory of food for the weekly menus, order as required or inform the food service manager of food items needed.
Ability to order groceries, count food/non-food inventory, minimize food waste and rotate groceries using the FIFO method of food storage.
Prepare special diet foods in advance, and serve special diet foods directly to the students.
Sanitation and Food Handling:
Maintain the kitchen work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Ensure the cleaning schedule is followed by the food service workers.
Ensure the dish machine is working properly.
Ensure left over food is stored properly and rotated for use on the cycle menus.
Ensure all food is served at the proper temperatures, and never in the danger zone between 41 degrees and 135 degrees.
Follow the department SOP operating procedures to ensure food safety.
Ensure USDA food is stored separately from vendor foods.
Monitor food service workers for proper dress code, including hair nets, no nail polish etc.
Experience and Education:
Minimal one year Cook-Lead work experience in an institutional environment, preferably a school.
Knowledge of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, including experience cooking in a school under these guidelines.
Read, understand and follow standardized recipes, with the ability to tweak
a recipe if needed.
Excellent communication skills, and a Team player.
Knowledge of the El Paso County food regulations/requirements.
The Hours are as follows:
Monday-Thursday 11: 15am-7: 15pm and Friday 6: 00am-2: 00pm
Pay: $14-$15 DOE
