Job Title: Transformer Lead Technician
Location: Golden, CO
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range 35-45/hr
Join our team as an experienced and skilled Transformer Lead Technician. You will lead inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and installation of large power transformers. Take charge by demonstrating leadership, applying technical expertise, and upholding safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of technicians in the installation and servicing of power transformers, including oil-filled and distribution transformers.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair transformers.
- Coordinate and supervise scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Perform acceptance and routine tests (e.g., DGA, insulation resistance, TTR, power factor).
- Oversee oil processing, vacuum filling, and testing procedures.
- Ensure the team complies with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit detailed service reports and technical documentation.
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Interface with clients to discuss work progress and technical issues
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required. A technical school or associate degree is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with power transformers or high-voltage electrical equipment
- In-depth knowledge of transformer construction, operation, and maintenance practices
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
- OSHA 10/30 certification (preferred)
