Role Summary:
As a Product Development Engineer, you’ll work closely with the design and production teams to support the full product development lifecycle—from concept to manufacturing. This role is ideal for a self-starter with a strong mechanical or product design background and a passion for turning ideas into tangible, high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Assist in designing and developing lighting and furniture products, including CAD modeling, prototyping, material evaluation, and testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, operations, and sales to ensure products meet performance, quality, and aesthetic standards.
- Process Optimization: Support the refinement of manufacturing processes and contribute ideas for cost reduction, improved assembly, and increased production efficiency.
- Quality Support: Ensure products are designed with compliance in mind, including UL or other applicable certifications.
- Problem Solving: Actively troubleshoot and resolve design and production challenges with a focus on practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Documentation & Systems: Maintain accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, and ERP system inputs.
- Innovation: Contribute to the exploration of new materials, technologies, and design approaches aligned with current trends and customer expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a product engineering or design engineering role, preferably in lighting, furniture, or related manufacturing industries.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, fabrication techniques, and materials.
- Hands-on approach and comfort working with prototypes and in a workshop environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering change processes a plus.
